industry
Safe Control Boiler Service AB was founded on March 26th, 2004 in conjunction with Safe Control Materialteknik AB, the Safe Control laboratory which became independent in 2001. Together the two make up the core of the Safe Control Group. Both companies have their roots in different branches of the shipbuilding company AB Götaverken which was founded in 1916. To power the ships, steam generating boilers were also manufactured and these were developed in different directions for different applications, such as for seafaring vessels, industry and heating of homes. The division responsible for producing steam boilers was called Götaverken Ångteknik and it delivered its first chemical recovery boiler in 1943.
The material laboratory has its origin in Götaverken’s foundry, which started up a materials laboratory around 1910, to analyse the materials used for casting parts of the ship’s engines. During the 1970s the Swedish ship building industry went through a crisis and Götaverken Ångteknik became an independent company in 1977. A name change to Götaverken Energy System was made during the 1980s and at the turn of the year 1990/91, Götaverken Energy System was bought by Kvaerner A/S and became Kvaerner Pulping AB.

The founder of Safe Control Boiler Service AB, Mr. Paul Pawel Praszkier started working at Götaverken Energy System in 1986 as a welding engineer in the boiler manufacturing workshop. In 1990 Mr. Praszkier transitioned to the design department where he was part of the technical support group which, among other duties, was responsible for inspections of the steam boilers built by Götaverken / Kvaerner. In the year 2000, Mr. Praszkier was promoted to the head of the department Technology, support and inspection within Kvaerner Pulping AB.
Early in 2004, Mr. Praszkier resigned from Kvaerner Pulping. Some time after resigning, he was contacted by the upper management of the Brazilian company Aracruz Celulose S.A. who inquired about the possibility of hiring him as a consultant for their three (3) recovery boilers and two (2) power boilers. In connection to the inquiry from Aracruz Celulose S.A., Safe Control Boiler Service AB is founded to attend the mill.
At this time, Mr. Sergio Roberto Stahl was working at Aracruz Celulose S.A. as the head of the predictive maintenance department. Mr. Stahl has a long background in the pulp and paper industry, starting in 1975 at Klabin S.A. With a similar view on how to treat the subject of inspection and maintenance of recovery boilers, a fellowship forms between Paul and Sergio and they decide to come together to expand Safe Control Boiler Service’s presence on the Brazilian market. Mr. Stahl officially joins Safe Control Boiler Service in 2005 as the head of the Brazilian office.

Today the company has grown to become a reference in steam boiler inspection and maintenance in the pulp and paper industry, serving clients worldwide. The company enjoys a high level of trust from its clients and is regularly hired to carry out assessments of new projects and modifications, as well as fabrication audits and supervision.
